Unifrutti Group has released its Abridged Sustainability Report 2024, highlighting key progress and measurable outcomes across its global operations. The report underscores Unifrutti’s continued commitment to sustainable growth, innovation, and resilience across the fresh fruit value chain.
In 2024, sustainability efforts were anchored on four core pillars:
- Water Stewardship – Implementing high-efficiency irrigation systems, real-time water monitoring, and community water-sharing initiatives, with a clear commitment to improve water-use efficiency by 25% by 2030.
- Optimal Resource Use & Quality Output – Reduced absolute food loss by more than 2,100 tons year-on-year, achieved a 77% hazardous-waste recycling rate, and continued to invest in renewable energy solutions, energy efficiency upgrades, and packaging optimisation to reduce environmental impact.
- Soil & Biodiversity – Managed 1,656 hectares for habitat protection and restoration across South Africa, the Philippines, and Peru, supported by regenerative agriculture practices, soil health monitoring, and biodiversity conservation initiatives.
- Caring for People & Communities – Achieved 35% female representation across the workforce, strengthened occupational health and safety systems resulting in fewer reported incidents, and maintained zero reported customer data breaches between 2022 and 2024.
The report also highlights Unifrutti’s forward-looking roadmap, including plans for smart-farming technologies, IoT-based monitoring, regenerative agriculture, and pathways toward net-zero emissions.
